OC Times Info for 2019 Candidates

Each year Oakland County Times provides two opportunities to reach our readers and spread the word about your campaign – free candidate video interviews, as well as advertising opportunities.

These are short, easy video interviews that give readers an introduction to who you are and what’s important to you.
We don’t send questions in advance and these turn out better if we do them off the cuff.  You can bring notes if you want, but really, it’s easy and its stuff you already know – like why you’re running, what skills you bring to the table, what issues are important, etc.  You’ll do great!
We can re-do questions. I edit all videos so there are breaks between questions for everyone.
For filming, do not wear thin vertical stripes or synthetic fabric shirts or  jackets that have a striped texture, because this can look odd and wavy on screen. You can be as dressy or casual as you want.
Videos are primarily recorded inside the Berkley Library or outside Ferndale City Hall. Due to transportation issues, we are asking candidates to come to us this year.  However, if it works out that I can do dates elsewhere, I will let everyone know.
Information on interview dates are sent to the email listed on the Oakland County Clerk’s record.  I do not know the dates much in advance as they are added on as needed and in the midst of continuing news coverage.  I send out the date, and candidates can respond to be given an appointment time.
Appointments move quickly.  A video takes about ten minutes to do and the outcome is about five minutes.
Many interviews are filmed at once and edited as I can. It may take weeks for your video to post. It is best to interview as early in the campaign season as possible. We do our best to get everyone in, but we may run out of time.
Interviews are posted based on my ability to edit them.
Sometimes candidates are anxious for theirs to go up. Please be patient. My goal in this is to provide this service to a variety of communities in an efficient manner. I post them as I can.  Decisions are not based on the candidate or the races themselves.  It can take a few weeks for videos to post, and we don’t go in any particular order.  None of this is personal.
After you schedule your interview, you may still receive emails about new dates. Please disregard them.

A basic ad is 2 inches by 5 inches and costs $95 per month with ten placements each month.
A premium ad is 8 inches by 2 inches and costs $200 per month with 20 placements each month. This package may not be available in all cities.
ALSO – EVENT POST ADVERTISING
OC Times has not historically listed campaign related events because we don’t have the capacity to post them all, and we want to be fair. This year we are allowing candidates to purchase an event post listing for $45.
Candidates can list up to two events in any given month.  This includes an event post (see example), inclusion on our Event Page, and a post on Facebook noting that it is a sponsored Event Post.  We ask that event posts be positive and not attacking other people or beliefs, and we reserve the right to refuse event posts for any reason.  If you do not provide a graphic that fits, we will create one for you.
