Reporter Food: El Guapo at Detroit Fleat in Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 25, 2019)
Ferndale, MI- Detroit Fleat, Ferndale’s food truck-centered restaurant, is now fully open for the season with a menu of items inside plus a trio of food trucks in the back.
There are three regular trucks and usually a fourth which rotates. El Guapo “El Guapo takes fresh Mexican to the streets and turns it upside down—fusing it with all varieties of international food cuisine,” according to Fleat’s website. El Guapo is joined by Pita Post and Mat & Mo’s Italian Beef.
Fleat is great for lounging in the fresh air, or for grabbing a quick bite to go. I recently swung in for a beef brisket burrito from El Guapo, which was deliciously full of brisket, beans, citrus rice, cheese, salsa and Guapo sauce.  Those who don’t want carbs can order their burritos as a bowl instead.  Other burrito/bowl choices include the Korean beef, shrimp, chicken, or chorizo. El Guapo also has tacos, tortilla chips, rice and salsa.
This was a super easy way to kick off food truck season. Detroit Fleat is located at 1820 E 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220.  Check out their website for full menus, hours, and events – www.detroitfleat.com.
