Suspects Charged with Beating Northville Man, Dumping Him in River
(Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, May 14, 2019)
Lyon Township, MI-  On May 5th, 2019, at 8:16am, Deputies assigned to the Lyon Township Substation were dispatched for a home invasion complaint in the 26000 block of Martindale Road. The owners of this residence had returned home to find their front door forced open with blood throughout the exterior and interior of the house. As they searched the home, they discovered a male covered in blood in their bathroom who was conscious and breathing, but had obvious head wounds.
The Lyon Twp. Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance arrived on scene and transported the individual to an area hospital. While at the hospital, the individual told medical staff and Sheriff Deputies he was attacked with a baseball bat by multiple people. Detectives determined the scene was not consistent with a home invasion and likely the victim had entered the home to get help for his injuries.
The victim was initially able to provide partial information on the identities of the suspects responsible for the attack. On May 7th, 2019, Lyon Twp. Deputies received information the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office had arrested the one of the two potential suspects on unrelated matters. During the arrest, the suspect gave voluntary information related to the assault in Lyon Twp. This information led Sheriff’s Detectives to a possible crime scene where the original assault occurred. The suspect admitted that she and a co-conspirator had set the victim up, hit him on the head with a baseball bat, and threw him in a river in a wooded area. During the search of the crime scene, Detectives matched a pair of glasses found to the glasses worn by the victim in his Driver’s License photo.
Warrants for Assault with Intent to Murder were authorized by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for Jessica Kropiewnicki, a 24-year-old resident of Lyon Twp., and Christopher Simons, a 28- year-old resident of Fowlerville. Kropiewnicki was arraigned on May 10th in 52-1 District Court in front of Magistrate Victor Zanolli and was given a $1,000,000 cash surety bond with no 10% and GPS tethering if released. On May 11th, Simons was arraigned in 52-4 District Court in front of Magistrate Clement Waldmann. He was given a $200,000 cash surety bond with no 10% and GPS tethering if released. Both defendants will appear in front of the Honorable Judge Travis Reeds on May 22nd at 9:15am for a probable cause conference.
The victim, a 30 year old male from Northville, is hospitalized in stable condition with significant injuries.
