Debt Issue Closes Aldi’s in Clawson – UPDATED
Clawson, MI – Customers were surprised Monday evening when court officers came to the Aldi’s store at 1035 W 14 Mile Rd in Clawson and ordered the business closed.
According to witnesses on social media, customers were able to finish checking out before officers ordered the doors closed. The property now has paperwork taped to the door stating “Court Seizure.”
Police Chief Scott Sarvello told Oakland County Times “This was a civil complaint issue involving court officers over collecting a debt. In the end, the store was closed/locked down until the attorneys could resolve the issue.”
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
UPDATE: Fox 2 News is reporting that Aldi is back open Tuesday morning, with management telling the station that the court order was in relation to an employee, not to the store.
