Reporter Food: Grilled Skinny Jimmy at The Lunch Cafe
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 21, 2019)
Berkley, MI -When I first went to The Lunch Cafe in September, I met Cindy and Angela Coon – the mother/daughter team responsible for the fine home-style soups and sandwiches that TLC is known for.  At that time, Cindy was pretty excited about her soups, telling me that she’s created over 75 homemade recipes that she switches up daily. On my first visit there, I had green bean casserole soup made with mushrooms and topped with crispy fried onions. For my most recent visit (which was in February), it was dill pickle soup.
The soup went perfectly with the Skinny Jimmy sandwich. This was a grilled panini sandwich with fresh sliced ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and a creamy, tartar-like sauce.
They have a menu full of sandwich choices.  Last time I had the Chicken Salad, which was amazing with the “fruited” option (aka with walnuts and grapes). Other sandwiches include Cheesy Carprese, Tuna Melt, Italian Grill and Veggie.
