Ferndale’s Treat Dreams Re-opens as “Dessert Emporium”
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 15, 2019)
Ferndale, MI- What once was an ice cream shop full of unusual flavors has now grown into a haven for all things sweet.  Treat Dreams Dessert Emporium at 22965 Woodward Ave in Downtown Ferndale opens it’s doors to the public Friday after a soft opening for friends and family Thursday night.
Scott Moloney is still the ice cream man at the shop which he started in 2010 in a space less than half the size of the store’s current space.  It’s grown from a place of bright colors and whimsical decor, to a theme of purple and black elegance, and a variety of quality products from multiple local creators.

D’Vine Cookie’s owner Rebecca Abel partnered with Maloney on the business’s re-launch.  On her website, Abel shared her inspiration “A divine intuition came over me one morning that I was going to make the most delicious cookies in the world. This odd but intense pull was out of left field and I dismissed it at first but it would not go away. I could see, smell, taste and touch these cookies and so I decided to see if I could get this vision out of my head and onto my plate,” she wrote.  “My dream cookie was big but not flat, light and crunchy on the outside yet rich and gooey on the inside, filled with intense & luscious flavors. I went to the store and loaded my cart with the finest ingredients to begin this journey of creating my vision into a reality.

“Having done very little baking before this I had no idea that the feeling I would get from baking was almost identical to the peace I felt painting and I was hooked immediately on creating new cookies! D’vine Cookies is the culmination of my love of art and all things sweet.”
Abel and Maloney also have stocked up on sweets from Rock City Pie, Matt Knio’s Cannelle, and Guilt Chocolates
“Our goal is diversity,” Maloney said. “We’re so lucky to be able to work with amazing bakers and entrepreneurs from throughout Metro Detroit.  We hope to add more, and keep having a variety.”
But don’t worry, fans of Sunday Breakfast, Dirty Martini, Mexican Chocolate, Red Hot, and Cookie Monster, Treat Dreams will continue to create the interesting flavor combinations that have made them a destination location for nearly a decade.
Maloney also owns Woodpile BBQ Shack in Clawson, with a second location opening in Madison Heights later in the spring.
Treat Dreams is expected to open by 4pm Friday, March 15, 2019, pending the installation of the digital menu boards.  Find out more at https://www.treatdreams.com/
