Reporter Food: Capt’n Crunch Chicken n’ Waffles at Bobcat Bonnie’s
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 12, 2019)
Ferndale, MI- Brunch is a big deal in Downtown Ferndale, and Bobcat Bonnie’s is among the popular destinations. A friend and I went a few weeks ago and were very happy with our breakfasts – and the build-your-own mimosa and bloody Mary bar. Mine’s the one with the blueberries in the picture below.
My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy, which came with diced potatoes.
And I had something that’s been on my mind since I saw it on the menu during my first visit – the Captain Crunch Chicken and Waffles. This masterpiece of a dish starts with a house made waffle and piles on chicken strips that have been coated with a Capt’n Crunch cereal batter and fried to crispy, slightly sweet perfection. It comes with syrup and a cup of buffalo sauce.
I’d been here once before for lunch, where I had the salmon pasta and the person I was with had the tuna poke bowl.
Bobcat Bonnie’s is located at 240 W. 9 Mile Rd. in Downtown Ferndale, as well as 1800 Michigan Avenue in Detroit and 118 Sycamore St in Wyandotte. Find out more on their website bobcatbonnies.com.
