Reporter Food: Carrot Cake Oatmeal at LA Cafe

Waterford Township, MI- I made a healthy choice when I visited the LA Cafe at 5815 Dixie Hwy last weekend, and it ended up being a scrumptious one at that.
The special was carrot cake oatmeal, which has julienne carrots, apples, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg mixed into creamy oatmeal that is topped with toasted coconut and served with a cup of brown sugar and a little pitcher of milk.

My adventure buddy for the day had French Toast, which I presume was delicious by the way he gobbled it all up. But what struck me was the way the meal was served with the pieces fanned out on a plate like flower petals.

I like little details.  And LA Cafe is definitely the place for the details. Tabletops are collages. Walls are covered with art. And random items hang from the ceiling. There are also cabinets of trinkets and gifts for sale.  On a previous visit I enjoyed the Anthony Quinn omelette.
