Reporter Food: Chicken Pad Thai at Thailand Town
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 6, 2019)
Royal Oak, MI – In the basement of an historic church in Downtown Royal Oak is a tiny little Thai cafe, with only a few seats and a busy carry out counter.  Thailand Town, at 515 S Lafayette, does not have a website or Facebook page, but what they do have is a full menu of choices and a range of spice to suit any palate.
I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai without spice and a pork egg roll.  My lunch companion had drunken noodle with shrimp, with a spice level way above where I would try it.  While we waited, the cook gave us complementary sweet and sour soup.  Everything was pretty typical of what you’d expect at a Thai carryout place.  Our bill came with a couple pieces of pear-flavored candy, which was a nice touch. It was also unique that since they were out of lemons, they brought a slice of lime to go with the tea.
There is not a website for Thailand Town, but there are plenty of positive online reviews.  Check them out at 515 S. Lafayette in Downtown Royal Oak.
