Wife Murdered, Husband Dead from Suicide in Commerce Township

Commerce Township, MI- A male subject drove to the Commerce substation Feb. 24 and informed a Deputy that a friend of his was suicidal.  The male subject stated he received an email from a friend (suspect) stating he was suicidal.  Deputies responded to the 3000 block of Timberlake Dr. and attempted to make contact with the homeowner but were unsuccessful.  Deputies forced entry into the garage and discovered an unoccupied vehicle running.  Deputies entered the house and began searching the first floor.  Upon entering the master suite, deputies discovered a female laying on the floor with a gunshot wound to her head.  Deputies continued searching the master suite and discovered a male laying on the floor of the bathroom.  Both subjects were deceased. 
 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Detectives from SIU and Commerce Twp. Responded to the scene to continue the investigation.  Forensic specialists responded to process the scene.  A 9mm handgun was recovered from the master bedroom closet.  During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned that there were marital issues.  At this time, it appears the male suspect shot his wife and then committed suicide by taking pills.   The case remains under investigation.  Both subjects were transported to the Oakland County medical examiner’s office pending autopsy.
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 55-year-old male, resident of Commerce Township.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 49-year-old female, resident of Commerce Township.
