Reporter Food: Steak Tacos at Buena Fe
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Jan. 31, 2019)
Oak Park, MI – Oak Parkers have a relatively new option for Mexican and Salvadorian cuisine with the opening of Buena Fe at 10116 W Nine Mile Rd, located next door to Primo’s Pizza.  I finally had a chance to give it a try earlier this week.
I went with a friend and we ordered the steak tacos and the Hueveo Con Chorizo which was a breakfast burrito with egg, Mexican sausage, onions, peppers and cheese.  That came with beans and rice. We also ordered chips with salsa and guacamole.
The food was fantastic, with more flavor than other Mexican restaurants I’ve had. The guacamole had some heat to it, so did the chorizo.  Everything else was mild, but with spices that added complexity and richness.
Other items that sounded good were the pupusas, fried plantain, tostadas, chimichangas, enchiladas, flautas and other Mexican and Salvadorian foods.
The restaurant gives some interesting things for visitors to look at. The tables are covered with unusual items, photos, and magazine clippings. There’s also art on the walls.
