“Timeless Appeal ~ Hometown Feel” Holly Embraces New Slogan

Holly, MI- Timeless Appeal ~ Hometown Feel. That’s the motto voted on by the Holly Downtown Development Authority Monday to reflect the spirit of the Village and it’s historic, welcoming downtown.
“We’re very excited about this description of our village and think it sums up what we’re all about,” said DDA Chairperson Dick Rossell whose wife owns Holly Hills Primitives. He and a board of eight other business owners/volunteers are tasked with supporting business needs in the Downtown Holly.
The tagline is the latest in a series of branding-related announcements that have come about in partnership with Main Street Oakland County.
“The Village of Holly is a Main Street community,” said DDA Director and Village Assistant Manager Katy Hughes. “Every year, Main Street Oakland County provides us with funding for a tech visit to undergo a project.”
Previous tech visit projects included a parking study, the Midtown Charette, creation of a 501c3, and more. Last year the community embarked on re-branding, and contracted with Curtis Jackson of Digital Alliance, LLC. Jackson created an online survey for community members to weigh in resulting in 319 completed surveys.
The former tagline was ““Proud of our past. Confident in our future.” Holly Township, of which the Village of Holly is a part, uses the slogan “Up north in Oakland County.”
Several suggestions of new taglines were discussed including, “North of Ordinary”, “Historically Happening”, and “Have a Holly Day”. But it was the Village’s part-time Assistant Rachel Orzechowski who came up with the tagline that was approved: Timeless Appeal ~ Hometown Feel.
Jackson also worked on creating a new logo, but in the end the board, the public, and Village staff decided they liked the one they had. The new slogan will be added, but beyond that the traditional design featuring holly leaves will stay. It will also be added to the water towers when the time comes for re-painting.
“The Village of Holly feels like home, whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you’re just visiting for the day,” said DDA Director and Village Assistant Manager Katy Hughes. “Our community is friendly, warm, welcoming, safe, comfortable, and inviting. It’s the perfect place to call home. So there you have it! The Village of Holly. Timeless Appeal ~ Hometown Feel.”
