Ferndale Elks Share Food and Funds for Holidays
(Oscar Renautt, Dec.24, 2018)
Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale Elks 1588’s holiday tradition of many years, Christmas food baskets for families in need, this year stronger than ever. The lodge raised enough money to purchase and deliver 100 food baskets to families in Ferndale area.
The money was raised with help of the lodge members, with efforts including the Christmas auction with items donated by its members.
On the morning of December 22nd, 50 Elk’s volunteers formed a line to move the food from the truck and pack it into the boxes.
Shortly after, 100 food baskets were delivered.
Later the same morning Sean English was presented 22.4k donation towards Purdue University tuition. Sean lost his leg helping people in the car crush and as a result, lost his scholarship with Purdue. An event in August included raffles which helped raise the money for English’s education.
