Madison Heights Sparkles with Tree Lighting and Santa Visit
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 28, 2018)
Madison Heights, MI- Santa Claus made his way to Madison Heights Tuesday to help the city welcome the holidays with hot cocoa, cookies, music and a tree lighting ceremony.
With his sleigh was in the shop getting tuned up for his big annual ride, the jolly elf  arrived in a fire truck adorned with strings of colorful lights.  The Lamphere High School band welcomed he and Mrs. Claus with holiday music as the crowd of families cheered.
Santa was joined on stage by city council and school board members, as well as the newly promoted City Manager Melissa Marsh. Mayor Brian Hartwell presented Santa with a key to the city.
“Have you all been good this year,” Santa said.  “Have you been listening to your parents and doing all your homework?” This kids all shouted yes, though it’s said that Santa really knows if they have, in fact, been naughty or nice. On Tuesday dozens of kids were nice as they waited in line to pose with their holiday hero.
Families also enjoyed seeing A Charlie Brown Christmas projected on the side of the library building, and posing for pictures with Snowball the Reindeer.
Following the ceremony, officials convened for a council meeting where they went over finance reports and projections.
