Ferndale Ready for Small Business Saturday
(Downtown Ferndale, Nov. 19, 2018)
Ferndale, MI – The movement to support local communities by shopping local has taken hold across the country, but few places are more committed to this effort than here in Oakland County.
On Monday, October 22, 2018, Ferndale City Council proclaimed November 24, 2018 as “Small Business Saturday” and urged residents to recognize and support small businesses within the community not only on Small Business Saturday, but throughout the year.
Downtown Ferndale businesses are responding to this support by offering shoppers amazing deals and specials as a “thank you” for support year-round, as well as a way to earn rewards while they shop. When consumers shop local, nearly 70 cents of every dollar is reinvested back into the local community, meaning that shopping local isn’t only good for the business, but for the community as a whole.
On Saturday, November 24, more than 50 Downtown Ferndale retailers, restaurants, and service providers will participate in Small Business Saturday, making sure that no matter who you have on your list, you can find them something perfect in Downtown Ferndale. And, you can count on convenient and hassle-free parking & getting around: not only is parking free throughout the city on Saturday, but this year you can take a free Chariot shuttle around town, courtesy of the City of Ferndale and DDA. For more details on Chariot, parking and lot locations, visit www.parkferndale.com.
The fun kicks off with our Shop Small Welcome Station, located in the Rust Belt Market, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Pick up a list of participating businesses and their specials, your #shopsmall or limited-edition Downtown Ferndale canvas tote, and a Scavenger Hunt map! Solve the clues and be entered to win prizes from participating businesses! Level One Bank will be sharing their passion about helping local businesses succeed by holding a “cash mob”, where shoppers will have a chance to receive CASH to use towards their local purchases! Oakland County is getting in the act, too with #ShopTextWin! Simply shop and make any purchase at an Oakland County small business on November 24th, text “ShopTextWin” to 41411, to receive a link to the shopper registration page, follow the instructions and submit by November 27th and you’ll be eligible to win prizes up to $5,000!
