Reporter Food: BBQ Pulled Pork Mac n Cheese at Dave and Amy’s
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 31, 2018)
White Lake, MI- at 9595 Highland Road (M59) in White Lake is a locally owned restaurant with a bar and a large menu, named after their founders: Dave and Amy’s.
I went for lunch and had their BBQ Pulled Pork Mac n Cheese, which is made with spiral noodles, smoky cheese, bread crumbs and onion rings.  I also got a side of cinnamon apples. Before the meal came out, the waitress brought a mini loaf of warm bread with a cup of honey butter, which was a nice touch.
This was a hearty meal in an environment that is both a family-friendly diner and a neighborhood bar with regulars chatting over drinks.
Other items that piqued my interest include deep fried pickles, Malibu coconut shrimp, French onion soup, St. Louis style ribs, Santa Fe Chicken Pasta and a nice selection of breakfast foods.
Their motto is “Friends don’t let friends eat at chain restaurants,” an idea that resonates with the idea behind this series featuring local restaurants throughout Oakland County.
Dave and Amy’s does have a second location at 800 N Pontiac Trail, White Lake, MI 48390.  Learn more at www.daveandamys.com.
