Suspect in Georgia Murder Arrested After Speeding in Pleasant Ridge

Pleasant Ridge, MI- Pleasant Ridge Police arrested a murder suspect who is now awaiting extradition back to Savannah Georgia where the shooting of a 22 year old man occurred.
According to Pleasant Ridge Police, “On October 21, 2018 Pleasant Ridge Police Officer Champine pulled over a car on Woodward Ave at Oakland Park for speeding. The driver of the speeding car was run in the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN). LEIN returned an active warrant for Homicide issued October 17, 2018 out of Savannah Georgia. Officer Champine had dispatchers confirm the warrant with Savannah PD and called for other officers to assist in the arrest. Officer Hadfield and Ferndale Officers arrived on scene and the driver and passenger of the car were taken into custody. The passenger of the car was released at the scene shortly after the arrest of the driver.”
Two detectives from Savannah came to Pleasant Ridge Police on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Pleasant Ridge officers assisted the Savannah detectives in their ongoing investigation, including obtaining a search warrant.
The suspect has not been arraigned, so police cannot yet release his name.  He is fighting extradition.  According to Savannah Police, the man is a suspect in a June 14, 2018 shooting that left a 22 year old man dead.
