Reporter Food: Bacon n’ Brie Hotcakes at The Laundry in Fenton
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 23, 2018)
Fenton, MI – Ah, breakfast. The time for sweet and savory combinations created by restaurants trying to outdo each other in uniqueness. The Laundry in Fenton is one of those places where the items on the menu make guests go “hmmm,” followed by “mmmm” after taking the first bites.
For me it was curiosity that led to ordering the Bacon n’ Brie Hotcakes one recent morning. The pancakes were full of bits of bacon and in between the layers was melty creamy sweet cheese. On top were dollops of apple-cinnamon compote. Their syrup is 100% maple, none of that high fructose stuff.
I got it with a side of roasted potatoes and a Strawberry Dreamsickle drink, which was strawberry and vanilla syrups, cream and sparkling soda, topped with whipped cream.
Their website tells a bit about the place. “A part of the Fenton community for over a decade, The Laundry serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week in a casual bistro atmosphere. Our Lunch menu features over 40 delectable deli sandwiches, housemade soups, and luncheon entrees. A rotating seasonal Dinner menu is designed by Executive Chef Jody Brunori and highlights the highest quality meats and produce available. A vigorous organic kitchen garden behind the restaurant provides Chef Jody’s kitchen with herbs and vegetables during the spring and summer months, while an on-site bee hive yields honey for use in both the kitchen and bar.”
Other breakfast options include the Fat Elvis pancakes, skillets like the Spanish Conquistador and Hungry Hippie, breakfast sandwiches, Pork n’ Porridge, and Granola Special. Plus many more.
They also do lunch and dinner.
The Laundry is located at 125 W Shiawassee Ave in Downtown Fenton. Check out their menu and more online at https://lunchandbeyond.com
