Teenager Riding on Hood of Car Seriously Injured After Fall in Independence Township

Independence Township, MI- Deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department responded to the 6000 block of Foxfire Circle for a serious injury accident on Sept. 10.
A subject was fell from the hood of a moving vehicle and struck her head on the pavement.
The driver had pulled into the victim’s driveway to drop the victim off after school had ended.  The victim exited the vehicle, and then she jumped back onto the hood of the car as the driver was backing out of the driveway.
The driver continued approximately one hundred feet down the roadway while the victim was still hanging onto the hood of the vehicle.  The victim lost her grip and fell off the hood and struck the back of her head on the pavement, causing serious injury to the back of her head.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  The victim was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland for head trauma and was listed in serious condition.  An OCSO Crash Investigator was requested and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation which is ongoing.
VICTIM INFORMATION:  16 year old female, resident of Independence Township.
DRIVER INFORMATION:  16 year old female, resident of Independence Township.
