Reporter Food: Rare Beef Pho at Saigon Diamond in Madison Heights
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 6, 2018)
Madison Heights, MI- Ever since I first tried pho back in March, it has been one of my favorite go-to meals. And Siagon Diamond in Madison Heights is among my favorites. The #27 is Rare Beef Pho, made with an addictively delicious beef broth, rice noodles, sprouts, slices of premium rare beef and a trio of onions – purple, white and green.
I’m pretty sure this ranks up there as a perfect meal, with lots of broth for good hydration, but also filling noodles, meat and vegetables.
I’m also fond of their house-made shakes which include coconut, avocado and durian.
There is a menu full of Vietnamese options like Cơm Chiên Dương Châu (Ahzn Cou Style Fried Rice), Bún Đặc Biệt (Vermicielli), Cớm Sướn bì chả trứng (Pork Chop, Shredded Pork, Egg Cake & Fried Egg) and Chả giò (Deep Fried Spring Rolls).
The restaurant is bright and clean, with lots of room for seating and a nice view of the traffic passing along John R. Items can also be made to go, with pho having the added bonus of being able to put the ingredients together at home and watching the beef cook and the noodles soften in the steamy broth. It’s not only good, it’s fun.
