Ferndale Library Curates Artist Advancement Collection for Local Creatives
(Ferndale Area District Library, Aug. 2, 2018)
FERNDALE, MI -The Ferndale Library aspires to be a source of enrichment for the community, and it extends that mission by establishing connections and enthusiastic support for its local artists.
Ferndale is home to such an extensive population of inspired independent artists that the city has its own annual festival to celebrate their talents with the DIY Street Fair. The Ferndale Library, meanwhile, not only features several books by Michigan authors, but regularly hosts local music showcases and art exhibitions.
Talent, vision, and ingenuity are evidently rampant in Ferndale, but the Internet’s shifting of the industry and of opportunities makes life for DIY artists complex and unpredictable. That’s why the Ferndale Library is curating a circulating collection intent on guiding every artist toward achieving a sense of security, coordination, connectivity and confidence as they develop their creativity-focused careers.
With support of the Metro Detroit Book & Authors Society’s Charles Dance Grant, the Ferndale Library’s new comprehensive and instructional Artist Advancement Collection contains resources for local artists of every medium, containing insights, tips and an overall illumination of the ever-shifting standards, expectations, and future forecasts for their area of expertise, be it music, acting, writing, photography, painting, or anything else. The Ferndale Library wants this collection to help artists find their way in the fields of self-promotion, budget, balancing their year-end taxes, obtaining freelance work assignments, or any other ways that can help you get to the next level without the luxuries of professional management, agents, accountants, galleries or record labels.
Artists, these books are for you! Come check ‘em out. Ferndale Area District Library is located at 222 E. 9 Mile. Learn more at https://www.ferndalepubliclibrary.org/
