Reporter Food: Toast ‘n Jams in Muskegon

Muskegon, MI -One of the great things about traveling around Michigan is finding memorable dining experiences.

Toast ‘n Jams in Muskegon is exactly the kind of place for an out of town writer to be inspired.

Earlier this year I paid a visit and ordered their German Omelette, which come with cheddar, ham, and onions sauteed with hash browns, and topped with sour cream and chives. The omelette was amazing, with all the items chopped so finely that every bite was consistently delicious.

The omelette came with cinnamon raisin toast, which was phenomenal with thick gooey swirls of cinnamon and soft fresh bread.

Toast ‘n Jams is known for their house-made strawberry jam. I also had a good old fashioned root beer float, which seemed appropriate in the retro-diner atmosphere. A mural celebrating historic Route 66. Retro advertisements line the booths and antiques decorate the waiting area, including a vintage stove.  The ceiling is lit with over a dozen hanging lamps.

Toast n’ Jams is located at 3462 Henry Street, Muskegon, MI 49441, one block off Business US-31.  It’s also just a few miles from the ever-lovely Lake Michigan, and a town full of attractions like the Muskegon Pier lighthouse, the Muskegon Museum of Art, the Hackley Library, the Frauenthal Center, the USS Silversides submarine, and other historical places to explore.
