Swastikas, Slur & Other Graffiti Sprayed on Cars, Utility Boxes in Independence Twp.

Independence Township, MI – Deputies responded to the 5500 block of Chestnut Hill Drive for a Malicious Destruction of Property report. Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with the complainant and were advised that several vehicles, street signs and utilities boxes had been spray painted with graffiti. The property had been spray painted with a phallic symbol, swastikas and other striping’s and designs. Utility boxes in the immediate vicinity of the parked vehicles had a racial slur, a swastika and the letter “P “, “Love” and “ Peace” written on them with purple spray paint. At the entrance to the subdivision there was a swastika found painted on the entry sign (ref. #18-129605).
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The incident occurred sometime during the overnight hours on July 9, 2018. Detectives are requesting that anyone with video camera surveillance footage that may have recorded the incident to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in Independence Township. Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
