Royal Oak Man Drowns in Spencer Park in Rochester Hills

Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, MI – INCIDENT:  19:22 Hrs. – City of Rochester Hills – Death Investigation / Drowning / OCSO Marine Unit Assist – #18-126669
SUMMARY: Deputies and the Rochester Hills Fire Department (RHFD) responded to Thelma Spencer Park at 3701 John R on a reported drowning.  While In route information was received that the Lifeguards had gotten the subject out of the water and CPR was in progress.  The victim was visiting Thelma Spencer Park with four friends.  The friends stated they all went into the water and when they came out they realized he had not come out with them.  They notified the lifeguards who found the victim in about ten feet of water in the swimming area. 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  The subject was transported to Troy Beaumont Hospital by the RHFD where he was subsequently pronounce deceased.  The OCSO Marine Unit responded and will be completing the investigation.
VICTIM INFORMATION:  27 year old male, resident of Royal Oak.
