9 Year Old Struck by Car on Auburn Road

Pontiac, MI- INCIDENT: 18:58 Hrs. – City of Pontiac – Pedestrian versus Automobile Personal Injury Accident / OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit Assist – #18-126653 (UD-10) & #18-126693 (Crash Investigation)
SUMMARY: Deputies responded along with the Waterford Regional Fire Department to the area of Auburn Ave. and Carriage Circle Dr. on a report of a Personal Injury Accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, Deputies found that a 9 year old child had attempted to run across Auburn Ave. near Carriage Circle from the north side of the street to the south side. As the child entered the East bound lanes a 2009 Dodge Avenger traveling east struck the child knocking her to the pavement.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with Deputies. Deputies requested the assistance of the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit to aid in the investigation. The victim was initially transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital by Paramedics from Star EMS before being transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital due to the extent of her injuries. The child is listed in stable condition. The operator of the Dodge Avenger was alone at the time of the crash and was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. Alcohol is not a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 9 year old female, resident of the City of Pontiac.
DRIVER INFORMATION: 48 year old female, resident of the City of Pontiac.
