Boat Capsizes on Pine Lake in West Bloomfield, 11 People Rescued
West Bloomfield, MI- FROM DAY SHIFT:  07-04-2018, 07:00 hrs.
THROUGH MIDNIGHT SHIFT:  07-05-2018, 07:00 hrs.
INCIDENT:  16:46 hrs. – West Bloomfield Township – Assist to Law Enforcement / Watercraft Accident / OCSO Marine Unit Assist – #18-125812
SUMMARY: The OCSO Marine Unit was patrolling Pine Lake when they received a report of a boat that had capsized and 11 occupants were in the water. An overloaded Malibu ski boat was underway on Pine Lake when another vessel passed throwing a heavy wake.  The wake swapped the overloaded ski boat.  The 11 occupants on board fearing the vessel would sink donned life jackets and entered the water. The OCSO Marine Unit Patrol Boat assigned to Pine Lake responded along with several other Good Samaritan boaters who assisted in retrieving the occupants from the water. 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  The OCSO Patrol Boat, with the assistance of another boater, were able to tow the disabled boat back to its dock.  All occupants were also returned to shore and no injuries were reported.  The investigation revealed the vessel was overloaded by approximately 450 pounds at the time of the incident.  Alcohol is not a factor in the incident.
