Great Lakes Burn Camp Gets Donation from 100 Faithful Friends
(100 Faithful Friends, June 27, 2018)
Rochester Hills, MI – The Rochester Hills based group, 100 Faithful Friends, was founded in June 2015 by Steve & Nancy Benedettini and Lana Doneth. They congregate quarterly to vote on which local charity will be the beneficiary of their group donation… 100 members giving $100 each. Deciding on which cause is not an easy task. Active members may submit a non-profit for consideration by writing its name on a slip of paper then dropping that into a basket. Three nominations are chosen at random from the basket and each cause’s spokesperson is given five minutes to pitch their organization, after which the faithful friends in the audience vote.
John Kastran has been a member of 100 Faithful Friends since its inception. At least four times he has written the name of his favored charity onto that nominating slip. His paper was never pulled from that basket, until this past March. John finally got his chance to present Great Lakes Burn Camp (GLBC) for consideration, and with his first time at bat, John received the majority vote and his organization was the recipient of the Friends’ $10,000 donation.
Great Lakes Burn Camp is a haven for burn injured children. It is a place where children with scars can play and laugh without feeling awkward or different. It is a place where children who have suffered the tragedies of burn injuries can heal and grow… together. It a camp that John Kastran has a connection to, as he has been a firefighter for 25 years and has witnessed first hand the tragedy of fire related harm. More information about GLBC can be found at www.greatlakesburncamp.org.
