Bloomfield Township Seniors Could Qualify for Meals on Wheels
(Berkley Township Senior Services, June 27, 2018)
Bloomfield Township, MI – Berkley Township Senior Services provides home delivered meals to seniors, ages 62 and older, who have considerable difficulty shopping for and preparing complete meals independently.
Meals are delivered by volunteers Monday through Friday between 10 AM and noon. There is a cost for this program and support for those who are low income.
The program also acts as a safety net for seniors by providing that pleasant contact with volunteers with each meal. Invest in independence and learn more today.
In 2017 we delivered over 8,000 meals to Township seniors; 50% of whom are over the age of 85. We have 80 volunteers who deliver the meals and it is a key element of the social and safety net for frail seniors in our community.
Here are some comments from MOW recipients:
“The MOW program is magnificent.”
“The drivers are pleasant, and friendly and the delivery is always timely.”
“The meals are delish! They are hot when they are supposed to be hot, and cold when they are supposed to be cold. They are not too sweet, or too salty. When I told my friends that I was going to be receiving MOW, they said “ugh” because they didn’t think that they would be good. But they are delicious. I so appreciate the service.”
Referrals from the community are handled in a very confidential way. Would this help one of your neighbors?
