(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 22, 2018)
Holly, MI – The Freemason’s Holly Lodge, located at 105 Washington Street will soon be put on the market with an asking price of $49,999.
The historic building was a church before being converted into the Masonic Lodge in 1871.
According to Temple Board President Dave Cruickshank, the Lodge has seen a decline in membership and active members. The group no longer needs the space that the two story building plus basement provides.
The group will be hosting meetings at the American Legion Hall for the time being. Membership in civic organizations such has the Masonic Lodge have faced a decline in membership over the past few decades. “We’ve been struggling paying the bills for a while and we are out of money. It’s very sad since we’ve had the building for such a long time.”
The Lodge group itself was chartered in 1862 and is the oldest continuously running organization in Holly.  Holly Lodge #134 is a part of District 16 of the Grand Lodge of Michigan, and an active member of Ancient District 20.  Learn more about the Lodge at http://www.hollylodge134.com/.
