Royal Oak Signs Deal for New Development at Woodward and I-696
(Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority, June 12, 2018)
Royal Oak, MI- On Friday, June 8, the Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority (DDA) closed on a deal with Singh Development Company, selling an undeveloped 4.15 acres on the south end of Main Street near the Woodward/I-696 corridor in exchange for 2.5 million dollars.
Singh plans to build a mixed-use, multi-story building comprising 240,000 square feet of residential and 10,000 square feet of ground level retail space. The project compliments the residential character of downtown’s south end, bringing 225 additional residential units ranging from 550 to 1800 square feet. Construction is estimated to be completed in the Spring of 2021.
This is a significant milestone in the project, which has been in the works between Singh and the DDA for nearly two years. The site is the last large undeveloped parcel in Royal Oak’s downtown district. Its sale and development symbolize Royal Oak’s appeal as a preferred place where people want to live and work.
Note: This story has been updated to include the price $2.5 million. The DDA originally gave the price at $2 million then sent out a correction.
