Schools on Lockdown after Patient Leaves Beaumont
Beverly Hills, Royal Oak, MI – Two schools are on lockdown as police search for a patient from Beaumont Hospital.
The Village of Beverly Hills released the following statement: “A patient under the care of Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak has left the hospital grounds and is currently unaccounted for. Police are searching the immediate area. As a precaution, Queen of Martyrs School and Greenfield Elementary are currently under lockdown. There is no immediate threat to either location and the lockdown is a precautionary measure until the individual is located.”
The lockdown also includes schools in Royal Oak and Berkley.
UPDATE: Lt. Keith Spencer of the Royal Oak Police Department said that the man was not been located, but further investigation revealed that the man was not a patient at Beaumont, he was on Beaumont’s campus.  He had approached a military recruiter and was turned away because he was armed. The man is a valid CPL holder and did not break any laws.  Schools were taken off lockdown and dismissals will continue as normal.
