Tip from Pennsylvania Constable Helps Teen Get Treatment After Online Threats

Addison Twp, INCIDENT:  23:51 May 17, 2018 hrs. – Addison Township – Welfare Check / Psychiatric Commitment / Detective Callout – #18-92538
SUMMARY: The Sheriff’s Office Command Desk received a telephone call from a Pennsylvania State Constable who stated that he had received a threatening message from a female on a social media page that he monitors as part of his duties. The PA State Constable advised that he monitors an anti-bulling social media chat room. This evening he received a message from a female claiming that she wanted to kill her brother and kill members of Law Enforcement. The female claimed to reside on Gerst Rd. in Addison Township. The female sent a picture of herself with a rifle propped against a wall in the photos background. Deputies were sent to the address to check the welfare of the suspect’s family and to make contact with the suspect.  
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: Deputies made contact with the suspect and her relatives at the residence. The suspect admitted that she had contacted the social media chat room and made threats to kill her brother and Police Officers. The suspect also stated that she was suicidal. The suspect was transported by Deputies to the Substation for a further interview with the Detective. The Detective interviewed the suspect and afterward was transported by Deputies to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Pontiac where she was petitioned for a 72 hour psychiatric evaluation. The investigation continues and will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office upon completion. All weapons in the home are now secured in a safe.
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 17 year old female, resident of Addison Township.
