Oakland County Football Club Moves to Clawson, Kicks Off May 12

Oakland County Football Club Moves to Clawson, Kicks Off May 12

(Robert Kerr, May 3, 2018)

Clawson, MI – Oakland County Football Club is in the midst of growth. The suburban-based soccer team is heading into their fourth season of operation with a move to Clawson, from Royal Oak.

The club previously played at Royal Oak High School and held practice in Clawson but, due to construction projects, Oakland County FC will be kicking off their new season with Clawson Stadium as their home. The 2018 OCFC season begins at Clawson Stadium on May 12, at 7:00pm.

Along with moving to a new home, Oakland County FC has made another big change. The team became a Supporter Owned club this year. The OCFC’s three co-owners offered up ten percent of their club to the public and launched the Oakland County FC Supporters’ Trust. Members of the Supporters’ Trust are beneficiaries to a number of perks, including season tickets and voting privileges on the design of the team’s new jerseys.

Oakland County FC’s roster is composed of some of the region’s top young talents. The players are either headed off to college in the fall, on summer break from their collegiate season, or have just finished school and tare trying to turn professional.

Oakland County FC is looking to become a family entertainment event, as they will feature a number concessions, face painters, and a kid’s zone.

The club is also making an effort to embed in the local community. For example, the team has partnered with AOK theater, a youth centered theater group, and Awesome Clawson Kids, a public access show hosted by local kids, for a banner and flag making event Thursday, April 3. The flags and banners created at the event will help decorate Clawson Stadium for the new season.
