Ferndale Elks Donate $2,200 to Youth Assistance

Ferndale, MI – A bag of Irish items (mostly drinkable) and a three-week-long raffle helped the Ferndale Elks #1588 raise $2,200 to donate to Ferndale Youth Assistance. Lodge Members Derek Pratley, Jerry Olli, and Oscar Renautt visited the Youth Assistance Board Meeting Tuesday to present the ceremonial giant check and to learn more about how the organization will use the funds.
Youth Assistance Board Chair Alyssa Atkinson said a donation of that size could fund 100 hours of tutoring, sending two kids to overnight camps, or emergency needs funds for 10-20 local families.
The Elks Lodge raises money for many local efforts, including honoring Veterans, youth programs and Ferndale Pride. “We love to help people that need help, and being part of the community,” Prately said. Their next big project is starting a community garden, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
