Royal Oak Accepting Applications for Public Art Submissions
(ROFCA, March 24, 2018)
Royal Oak, MI- The Royal Oak Commission for the Arts (ROCFA) is excited to announce its sixth annual call for artists to submit applications for temporary display of public art in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan.
Artwork will be displayed from July 2018 to June 2019. Selected artists will receive a $600 honorarium upon installation of their work.
Artists are responsible for transporting their work to the site and installing it on concrete bases that will be supplied by ROCFA.
Artwork will be accompanied by plaques identifying the artist, artwork, and directing viewers to the Art Explored webpage.
The Art Explored webpage includes an artist statement, artist and artwork pictures, purchase price, and link to the artist’s website.
Proposals will be reviewed and juried by a committee of ROCFA members and prominent community art representatives that have not yet been selected.
Preference may be given to work that has already been completed. However, conceptual proposals will be entertained if the artwork can be created within the presented timeline, and applications are submitted with clear and detailed specifications and renderings.
A signed contract and license agreement approved by the city commission will be required before artwork can be displayed. General liability insurance is not required from the artist. However, ROCFA does recommend that all artists obtain property insurance to cover their work.
