27 Year Old Fatally Shot in Pontiac

Pontiac, MI – INCIDENT:  21:39 hrs. – City of Pontiac – Death Investigation / Homicide / Detective Callout / OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory Callout – #18-46319
SUMMARY:  Deputies responded to the area of Irwin Avenue and Going Street on the report of a male subject who was lying in the roadway with a possible gunshot wound.  The caller had left the scene prior to the Deputies’ arrival. Upon arrival, Deputies located a male shooting victim lying on the roadway. He had what appeared to be a semi-auto handgun laying underneath him that was later determined to be a pellet gun that resembles a semi-auto handgun.  The victim had significant trauma and was not conscious or breathing. Paramedics from Star EMS and the Waterford Regional Fire Department were on the scene. Paramedics provided telemetry to McLaren Oakland Hospital where a physician pronounced the subject deceased.  Deputies began to canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and located several people who stated that they heard gun shots shortly before Deputies arrived. 
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  An OCSO K-9 Unit responded to the scene and conducted a track but with negative results.  Detectives were notified and responded to the scene to begin their investigation. The OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory was requested and responded to process the scene.  The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.  The Medical Examiner’s Office assumed custody of the deceased.  The decedent was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy is pending on 3-13-18.  Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
