Business Recruitment Grant Opportunity

Auburn Hills, MI – The City of Auburn Hills is pleased to announce its new Business Recruitment Grant available for businesses choosing to locate in downtown Auburn Hills.
The City of Auburn Hills Tax Increment Finance Authority Business Recruitment grant is intended to promote economic vitality in downtown by providing an incentive the business and property owners. The program encourages the revitalization of downtown buildings to create a vibrant downtown experience for residents and visitors. The program intends to provide funding for projects that demonstrate the importance of marketing the community as a destination of choice for investment.
The Tax Increment Finance Authority recently approved Business Recruitment Grant Guidelines and application, with funding available up to $300,000. Funds are allocated on a dollar-for-dollar match.
The grant application has two tiers of funding. Its overall purpose is to assist businesses expand to a second location, with a primary focus on restaurants. Those businesses expanding to a second location are eligible for a grant of $30,000 – $300,000. Additionally, the grant is designed to assist smaller businesses with a start-up grant of $10,000 – $30,000.
“Over 85 new residential units are planned to be built in downtown over the course of the next year, with more anticipated into 2019,” said Patrick Hassett, Chairman of the Tax Increment Finance Authority. “The Business Recruitment Grant will allow a business to grow its roots in the community and the location will soon lend its self to a built-in client base. It is the hope of the Tax Increment Finance Authority that the grant opportunity will ease the transition associated with opening a business and allow a smooth progression of downtown” he added.
