Rochester Hills Woman Slips on Tile, Shoots Husband

FROM DAY SHIFT:  02-18-2018, 07:00 hrs.
 THROUGH MIDNIGHT SHIFT:  02-19-2018, 07:00 hrs.
INCIDENT:  15:40 hrs. – City of Rochester Hills – Reckless Discharge of a Firearm / Accidental Shooting / Detective Call Out / OCSO Forensic Science Lab Call Out – #18-31571
SUMMARY:  Deputies and the Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to a residence located in the 50 block of Sugar Pine Rd. for a subject who had been shot.  The complainant / Wife stated that she had accidently shot her husband. The victim had a gunshot wound to his back above his right hip. The bullet appeared to have exited in the area of his lower abdomen.  The victim was conscious and alert.  Deputies arrived on scene and located the victim as well as the wife who was still at the residence. The wife stated that she was putting her handgun away when she slipped on the tile floor in the foyer and accidentally shot her husband in the back.  Deputies recovered a Walther PK .380 which was resting on a table in the foyer. While searching the exterior of the residence, Deputies located a second handgun lying in the snow in the landscaping in front of the home. Paramedics from the Rochester Hills Fire Department transported the victim to McLaren Hospital – Oakland where he was treated and released later that evening.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:    Detectives responded to the scene. The OCSO Forensic Science Lab also responded to process the scene.  The firearms were collected by the Forensic Lab. The wife was released pending further investigation.
VICTIM INFORMATION:  39 year old male, resident of the City of Rochester Hills.
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 40 year old female, resident of the City of Rochester Hills.
