35 Year Old Gift Shares Eagle Pride, and Friendship Between Two Ferndales

Ferndale, MI -While cleaning out a closet, Ferndale Schools administrators found a hand-carved wooden eagle plaque that was a gift sent in 1983 from the Golden Eagles of Ferndale, Washington.
The inscription says the plaque was sent “in friendship.”
According to Discover Ferndale, the local online news site of Ferndale, Washington “Although separated by about 2,000 miles, the Ferndale High Schools in Washington and Michigan are similar in some ways. Both were initially built in the mid-30s, both participated in an alternating exchange student program and both have eagles as their school mascots.”
The plaque is now being displayed.  “We certainly thanked our fellow Eagles for this gift almost 35 years ago, but wanted to take a moment and thank them again. Our new friend has found a permanent home and will be prominently displayed in our Enrollment Office,” said the announcement in the Ferndale Michigan School’s e blast.
