Donation Helps Rochester
Family after Fire
(100 Faithful Friends, Jan. 25 2018)
Rochester, MI – A house fire on any day is a devastating occurrence, but to have your home burn on Thanksgiving Day, well, that’s just a cruel twist of fate. The Miller family of Rochester had that unfortunate event happen to them this past November. Their home is so damaged that it is currently unlivable, and they lost the vast majority of their possessions to the flames. Fortunately for them, however, they have an amazing friend in Lisa Russell. Lisa pitched their dire situation at the December 100 Faithful Friends meeting and she persuaded the group to bestow their quarterly $10,000 charitable donation to the Millers.
The Miller household is comprised of 99-year-old matriarch, Dorothy, her son Bryant Paul, and her grandson, 17-year-old Jackson. Dorothy has difficulty with both seeing and hearing, yet she was the one who alerted her son of the peril when the boiler exploded in the basement of their home. She felt the heat, smelled the smoke, and was able to make her way outside to call for Paul, who was feeding their animals. Jackson was not home at the time.
Dorothy Miller purchased the home over 40 years ago. She was enamored with the house because when there was a storm, the rainbow appeared to end at that residence on Harding Ave. 100 Faithful Friends weren’t able to offer up a pot of gold, but they did the next best thing: they gave the Millers the means to begin rebuilding their lives.
A Rochester Hills based group, 100 Faithful Friends is comprised of members from various backgrounds and different walks of life. As an assemblage they share one goal: to make a difference. Launched in June 2015 by Lana Doneth and Steve & Nancy Benedettini, the Friends believe “as a group we have the ability to contribute to the growth of our community in ways that we never before thought possible. All things are possible through God! With at least 100 members contributing $100 each meeting, together we will make a $10,000 donation to a charity or worthy cause!”
