Nikki Holland & the Dirty
Elizabeths Prepare for Ferndale Blues Festival
(Sam Gurwin, Jan. 2, 2018)
Ferndale, MI – One always wants a fun night at concert or local bar- some bands shine brighter than others. Nikki Holland & the Dirty Elizabeths is one such Band. The original songs, audience participation, community charity fund raising and just plain great music puts Nikki and her 6-piece Band in a category all its own.
Don’t let the name fool you. This Family-friendly, high energy Band entertains one as always at their many venues in Detroit-area. Enjoying their concert means taking in what is called “Americana” music. Folky & whimsical it can be defined as but Nikki & the gang add their own flavor which include Reggae. Nikki defines Americana Music as “Hugely Diverse.”
Her addition of unique influences with her Twangy & medium pitch voice (think Alanis Morissette) melds this Band into a class act and highly entertaining.
Nikki Holland, a Las Vegas Native & business degree holder has had bands in a few other States before settling in South-east Michigan. Fluctuating over the last few years between the number of Band Members, Nikki currently has 6. Adding to the grand uniqueness is locally famous Backup Singer Mae James and Keyboardist Monte Porenta- they has really sealed up a solid Band. A highly professional Band under LLC with protection for her & the Band’s great songs, she runs the Band streamlined for fun for herself, the Band and the Fans.
“Doing some good & doing it great” is a quote from Nikki that defines them.
They are a great-sounding Band but with a huge heart. They consistently give to charity. Her Band’s T-shirts use the phrase, “Until We Are Equal, Be Greater Than”. The band supports equality issues. Committed to the prospect of just being good people is the feel one gets from chatting with Nikki.
Don’t be surprised if Nikki has accompanying musicians at her concerts. She “celebrates everybody” and leads the charge of making her concerts pure entertainment. From Poetry-readings to audience-participation during the shows, one will find a well spent evening within earshot of this talented band.
The Fundamentals of NIKKI HOLLAND & THE DIRTY ELIZABETHS:
(1) Believe in their Fans;
(2) Gratitude for everything & helping charity; and
(3) Having fun
Having played the Ferndale Blues Festival before, the band will be at the Ferndale Elks Lodge # 1588 on Saturday Feb. 3rd at 9:00pm. She loves the fact that BB King played at this lodge and that they are both Las Vegas babies!
