Man Accidentally Shoots Through Home, Neighbors Door

Springfield Twp, MI -INCIDENT:  Jan. 7, 2018 16:37 hrs. – Springfield Township – Reckless Discharge of a Firearm / Detective Callout – #18-10190
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to the 17000 block of Louise Dr. for a subject who had discharged a handgun in his home striking the front door of the home across the street. Upon arrival, Deputies met with the complainant.
The complainant stated that he was removing items from a dresser drawer where he keeps his loaded 9mm handgun when he accidentally knocked the gun from the drawer causing it to fall to the ground.
He picked the gun up and inspected it for damage at which time he discharged the firearm.
The bullet went through several walls in the home before striking the front door of the home across the street. No one was injured inside the complainant’s home and the residents across the street whose home was struck by the bullet were not home at the time of the incident.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  A Detective was contacted and responded to the scene. The residents whose home was struck by the bullet were located and advised of the incident. The complainant’s firearm was collected as evidence. The suspect was released at the scene pending a review by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for possible criminal charges.
SUSPECT INFORMATION: 24 year old male, resident of Springfield Township.
