Woman Suspected in Orion and Independence Bank Robberies Arrested

Independence Township, Orion Township, MI –FROM DAY SHIFT:  01-13-2018, 07:00 hrs.  THROUGH MIDNIGHT SHIFT:  01-14-2018, 07:00 hrs
INCIDENT:  10:07 hrs. – Orion Township – Bank Robbery – Arrest / Detective Call-Out / OCSO Forensic Science Lab Call-Out – #18-8287
SUMMARY:  Deputies responded to the Huntington Bank located at 4983 S. Baldwin Rd for a reported Bank Robbery.  An employee of the bank called 9-1-1 to report that a female suspect had just robbed the bank, taking with her a black clothing bag that was turned inside out, which contained an unknown amount of cash.  The suspect implied that she had a weapon, but a weapon was not seen.  The suspect fled the bank, northbound on Georgia Rd in a black Saturn.  Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with the victim who provided them with a physical description of the female suspect along with a clothing description and a last known direction of travel.  A Deputy who was observing the flow of traffic on northbound I-75 observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description.  The vehicle was being driven by a female that fit the suspect description.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  Deputies continued to follow the vehicle until additional units arrived to initiate a traffic stop.  Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle at I-75 south of I-475 into Genesee County.  The vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder of I-75.  Deputies made contact with the driver and ascertained that she was the suspect wanted in connection with the bank robbery.  A black canvas bag containing assorted denominations of U. S. currency was found in the back seat of the vehicle.  All of the money taken in the robbery was recovered.  Detectives responded to continue with the investigation.  The OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory responded to process the scene.  The suspect was transported to the Orion Township Substation to speak with Detective.  She is also a suspect in a bank robbery that had occurred at the Comerica Bank in Independence Township on 11/20/2017 (#17-213342).  The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges. Deputies were assisted at the scene of the traffic stop by the Grand Blanc Twp. P.D.. The incident remains under investigation. The FBI was notified and LE agencies across SE MI have also been notified to see if she has been involved in other robberies.
 ARRESTEE INFORMATION:  40 year old female, resident of the City of Flint. Photo from bank attached. She has a prior conviction for Bank Robbery in Grand Blanc Twp. in 2000 and three convictions for embezzlement.
