Heather Dixon Died of Strangulation, Investigation Continues

Novi, MI – Novi Police have identified the 32-year-old woman found dead inside a home on the 29000 block of Pierre Drive in the evening of January 4 and are investigating the incident as a potential homicide.
According to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim, Heather Alyce Dixon, died from strangulation. She was found on the floor inside the home in the Oakland Glens mobile home community. A second subject, her husband, was also found in the home and is considered a person of interest and is in police custody.
The incident appears to be domestic in nature and there is no threat to the public. The matter remains under investigation by Novi police detectives and Michigan State Police crime scene technicians.
UPDATE: According to Novi Assistant Police Chief Erick W. Zinser, the couple has three children ages 6, 8 and 11. It is unclear if the children were home when their mother died. At a press conference on Jan. 5 he stated that Dixon’s mother in law had gone to the home and was concerned to find the doors locked. Zinser said they had been called to the home for a domestic issue in the past.

NOVI, MI – At 5:37 pm on January 4, the Novi Police Department received a call for a welfare check at a home on the 29000 block of Pierre Drive in the Oakland Glens mobile home community. Novi police officers and emergency personnel arrived on the scene within four minutes and upon entry discovered a 32-year-old female on the floor in the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A second subject was also found in the home and is considered a person of interest and in police custody. The incident appears to be domestic in nature and there is no threat to the public. The matter remains under investigation by Novi police detectives and Michigan State Police crime scene technicians. An autopsy is being performed this morning by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office. In an effort to protect the integrity of the investigation we are not releasing additional information at this time.
