Boys & Girls Club Prepares
Boxes of Food for Needy Families
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 18, 2017)
Royal Oak, MI – Over 40 volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of Oakland and Macomb Counties came together Sunday to box up care packages for local families and senior citizens. Youth in the program gathered food donations, including a donation day at Holiday Market in Royal Oak, where the store matched donations.
Families are found through the local school districts including Royal Oak and Ferndale. Staff and Board members organized the effort.
Zack Ristau of Royal Oak was among the teens helping out. “My dad used to come here,” Ristau said. “So we try to do this every Christmas. It’s our tradition to give back.”
The items will go to families in the community, including to the family of a man who lost his life shoveling snow about a week ago.
