Graces Woods Gallery Walls

Huntington Woods, MI – “The East Coast has enough artists,” joked Justin Bean as he explained the decision to move from Philadelphia to Royal Oak, not far from his hometown of Huntington Woods.
The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts-learned painter held an opening reception for his collection of “Geometrics” at the Woods Gallery in Huntington Woods on Nov. 18, with friends, family and local art enthusiasts coming to enjoy his colorful works.
“I love structure and patterns,” Bean said. “I started out doing expressionism but I found that I really want to do something new with geometry.”
Bean recently moved back to Michigan to be near his family, and was excited to have a show at the Woods Gallery, which is located in the lower level of the Huntington Woods Library. He said that it “feels great to have so much support from the community.”
Sue Smith, Coordinator for the Woods Gallery, said “We like to feature people from Huntington Woods,” and that Bean’s works “look good all in the room together as a collection.”
The most important thing about art, Bean said is to “enjoy it.”
“If you love art, make as much of it as you can. Let yourself be free with it and know that’s you’ll get better with practice.”
