(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 14, 2017)

Ortonville, MI – Residents in Ortonville spent Tuesday night in fear as Oakland County Sheriff”s deputies and Michigan State Police scoured the Village for a man they consider armed and dangerous after shooting a man and woman at an apartment complex at about 8pm.

The 33-year-old woman and man of unknown age were shot in what police say was a domestic incident.  They were taken to a local hospital in critical condition.  The shooting took place at an apartment complex on Village Court.

Police are searching for 34-year-old Michael Quigley of Lake Orion, and are cautioning people to stay in their homes with the doors and windows locked.

As of midnight, patrol cars and SWAT vehicles guarded nearly every road, and a helicopter circled overhead.  Activity was concentrated in the area of Granger and Kent where dozens of officers with bulletproof vests and rifles searched in areas of trees and tall grass.

Ortonville is located in Brandon Township, north of Clarkston.  It has a population just shy of 1,500 people.

UPDATE: Brandon, Ortonville and Clarkston Schools are closed Wednesday as police continue to search for the suspect.

The victims have been identified by CBS as Quigley’s wife and her boyfriend.  They report that a three year old child was present during the shooting.  Both victims have been upgraded to stable condition.
