Man Killed when Teenage Driver Runs Red Light in Bloomfield Twp

Bloomfield Twp, MI – On Friday, November 10, 2017, at approximately 4:00 P.M., Bloomfield Township Police and Fire responded to a report of a two car crash. Initial reports indicate a 2016 Jeep Wrangler traveling northbound on Telegraph, ran the red light and collided with a 2004 Ford Thunderbird.  The Thunderbird was traveling westbound on Lone Pine on a green light.  All occupants of the vehicles were transported to a local hospital.  The female driver of the Jeep, a 16 year old out of Bloomfield Hills, is in stable condition as well as, the female passenger.  The male driver of the Ford, an 84 year old out of Birmingham was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

 

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

 

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigations Unit.  Members of the Southwest Oakland County Crash Investigations Team (SOCCIT) assisted with the on-scene investigation.
