2017 Candidate Interview: Ferndale Councilperson Greg Pawlica
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Nov. 2, 2017)
Ferndale, MI – Ferndale Councilperson Greg Pawlica and Ferndale Mayor Pro Tem Melanie Piana are unopposed in the Nov. 7, 2017 election, as is Mayor Dave Coulter. Yet the election will go on and the candidates continue to connect with voters about the issues impacting the city.
Pawlica has served on City Council for the past four years. He works in automotive safety for Ford Motor Company and has been involved in the community in many ways, including on the Parks and Recreation Commission, Ferndale Community Foundation and Ferndale Pride.
Although there is no contention on the ballot, Pawlica said “A lot of people have died for the right for us to vote and I have voted in every election. If you look back at my history even some of the smallest elections where there’s only one person or one item on the ballot, I have voted because voting is something that not everyone in the world is able to enjoy.” He also talked about the new voting machines and ballots that are first being used in this election, and the value of getting to know the process before the busy 2018 election.
