Former Oak Park Mayor Running as Write-In

Oak Park, MI – Former Oak Park Mayor Jerry Naftaly has been added as an official write-in candidate for the Nov. 7, 2017 Mayor’s race in Oak Park. He is challenging Mayor Marian McClellan who successfully ran against him in 2011 and has been Mayor since.
Naftaly was first elected Mayor in 1991 and had served on City Council from 1977 to 1991.
In 2011, McClellan got 52.23% of the vote and Naftaly got 47.59%.
In 2013 Naftaly also ran unsuccessfully as a write-in. At that time he got 31.31 % with 1,323 votes to McClellan’s 68.69% with 2,902 votes.
Naftaly did not immediately return request for comment about the decision to run, however his name is now listed on the Oakland County Clerk’s Election Page as a write-in candidate.
There are also three people running on the ballot plus one write-in for two seats on City Council. Incumbent Carolyn Burns is seeking re-election. Andrew Cissell and Regina Weiss are also on the ballot. Jean Erwin has a been added as a write-in for the Council race.
